A beautiful eight year old lady named Sharon walked into my life today and ran away with my heart.
Chris and I met Sharon, our Compassion Sponsor Child today at noon. She has a huge smile and a shy disposition. She loves the color red and she draws very, very well. She peaks very little English and has had a late start in school because she is the oldest of five children and her Mom is only 25 years old. Her Dad does not live in the home. He has several wives. Sharon's mom is Muslim. Compassion International will accept Muslim children if they meet the attendance conditions at the Compassion Project. At the project they are taught Christian principles, economic, social, physical life aspects and much more.
Just as I thought my emotion gauge could not read any higher, Sharon walks across the lawn. It was a wonderful and fulfilling hour that seemed like 2 minutes. We gave her gifts, sticker books, a robe, a teddy bear, hair clips and ties and a photo album with or family pictures to which we will mail to her project director to add the picture with her to the album.
As we said goodbye, she gripped my hand like a vise. She did not want to let go. I could not let go of that beautiful ebony hand...but had to. She said, "Goodbye, Daddy".
When you sponsor a child, believe me, you are sponsoring a real child in real desperate circumstances. A child that will be granted hope, mentorship, life and dignity for less than my Starbucks monthly dollars.
Please, please sponsor a child now. Today. Go HERE NOW.
The difference between the Compassion sponsored kids and the unsponsored kids is unbelievable. It is the difference that hope, dignity, clothing and love can make.
I will throw in a limited edition watercolor print if you sponsor a child.
