As the night went on we started to feel worse. We both were struggling with fever, congestion, nausea, dizziness, and difficulty breathing. We experienced pretty much every sickness you could imagine. Our guide had warned us about making the trip to Everest in less than 7 days (we did it in 4) but of course we said we are young, handsome, and healthy and we'd be fine. Little did we know. At one point during the night I felt like I had to concentrate just to breath. The next morning we didn't feel any better. However, the weather was perfect so we quickly visited base camp 2 and snapped pictures. Mt. Everest isn't nearly as majestic when you feel like you are dying. We headed down the mountain and within an hour we had ascended 4000 feet and almost all the altitude sickness symptoms just disappeared. I felt great but exhausted!
Overall the trip was exhausting, expensive, painful, but all definitely worth it in the end. Mt. Everest is indeed majestic.
