WCW - Book/Author Influence
A recent conversation with new friend Don Donahue, President of Rocketown Records provided confirmation for a practice I have followed over the years. Don recounted a conversation with the late Mike Yaconelli. Mike told Don that when a book has a profound impact upon you, you owe it to yourself to get in touch with the author. Most authors are not million sellers and therefore greatly value the times when confirmation comes as a result of their hard work.
Don connected me yesterday with Ian Morgan Cron whose book Chasing Francis has had a profound impact on my life. And sure enough, we connected on many levels. I have notes scrawled over several pages of my Moleskine notebook with recommended books, quotes, information and providential events that permeated our conversation. Our lives have been eerily parallel during the last few months and I am a richer person for having connected with Ian. I hope he felt the affirmation that I intended for his life and his writings.
Other authors who have impacted me in a profound way and with whom I have subsequently connected include Philip Yancey, Ken Davis, Louis Markos, Daniel Pink, Angela Hunt and Kurt Bruner to name only a few. I am richer for the time I have spent with each one of these gifted writers.
What book has had the greatest influence upon your life? Tell Us HERE. Who is the author? Have you tried to contact that author through an e-mail, blog, twitter, Facebook, etc.? There could be unexpected gifts awaiting both of you.
