I have sand in my shoes after living on the beach for sixteen years, and I believe I will never get it out. Coming to the beach is like coming home for my family. It is in our blood. An indescribable peace comes into our beings upon feeling the sand squeak beneath our feet, hearing the rhythmic pounding of the surf, and seeing the cobalt blues juxtaposed with the whites and tans.

I have several favorite beach getaways. Noosa Heads in Australia; Bermuda; St. John, USVI; Captiva Island, Florida; Bathtub Beach in Stuart, Florida and most importantly, where I am at this writing, Santa Rosa Beach & Seaside, Florida.

The beach here is squeaky white and wandering wide. It is delightfully free of condos and high rises. There are few people and walks can be quite private. The building code delivers quaint cottages of pastels and planks. Widows walks and white linen. Beauty.
